A First Rank holder in Sangita Siromani from the University of Madras and recipient of the prestigious Dr. A.L. Mudaliar Award, she later earned an M.A. in Tamil and a Ph.D. in Music. Under the guidance of eminent gurus and scholars, she developed expertise in Carnatic music, Tamil Isai, Bhakti literature, Tevaram, Divya Prabandham, folk traditions, temple arts, and musicology.
