Dr. R. Born into the historic Thillaisthanam Jatavallabhar lineage and deeply rooted in the illustrious Tyagaraja Śiṣya Paramparā, she inherited a rich musical legacy that shaped her lifelong commitment to art, scholarship, and education.
Her academic journey reflects a rare blend of rigorous scholarship and practical musicianship. A First Rank holder in Sangita Siromani from the University of Madras and recipient of the prestigious Dr. A.L. Mudaliar Award, she later earned an M.A. in Tamil and a Ph.D. in Music.
